Sloan V-551-A Vacuum Breaker Repair Kit can be used in all Sloan Flushometers. Flush-valve vacuum-breaker repair parts are components for replacing the vented sleeve that stops backflow to prevent contamination of the water supply. Vacuum breakers sit below the diaphragm assembly of a flush valve (flushometer) to keep water from flowing backwards through the valve during flushing. They typically need repair or replacement when they allow leaks through the vent holes.
The Sloan V-551-A vacuum breaker acts as a one way valve that allows water to flow down thru it. Not to mention it won’t allow water to siphon back up. It also allows air to pass thru the vents in the side of the vacuum breaker tube. It then breaks the vacuum that is created at the end of the flush cycle.
